Shine like never before with Roidal

As if it were a classic, this Spring/Summer 2022 season Roidal’s bikinis and swimming costumes shine again in a spectacular way thanks to the Swarovski crystals that give rise to the Diamond Touch Series, which includes “Flat Back Hotfix” and “Crystal Transfer” crystals from the legendary Austrian jewellery house and which give this swimwear series an exclusive, sophisticated character with an extra touch of elegance.

Thus, based on Roidal patterns and on new trends and styles, new designs have been developed exclusively for our brand, faithfully reproducing the cut of the garments through the application of small loose crystal elements, with a flat back, which has been previously coated with a heat-sensitive glue and fixed by heat-sealing to produce a shiny and durable crystal effect. The result is a sublime swimwear collection that sparkles in a special way.

The Diamond Touch series of bikinis and swimsuits are based on five basic, calm but always on-trend colours, such as mimosa yellow, denim blue, deep mauve and the classics black and white, always in vogue and extremely elegant, with rounded Swarovski crystals.

All the bikinis and swimsuits in this Diamond Touch series are presented with a special Swarovski identification label that certifies the quality of Roidal bikinis and swimming costumes.

Roidal and Tessy new collection SS2022

New collection Roidal SS2022

Taking as a reference the book “Psychology of colour” by Eva Heller, in which the author analyses how colours act on human feelings, Roidal’s collection for the Spring / Summer 2022 season puts colour at the centre of the creative focus. So, it illuminates with its intensity and brightness some flattering garments; designed to shape the female silhouette and make the most of it thanks to the exclusive patterns of the brand. Thus, cross necklines, halter necks that tie at the back, draping, gathers and other stylistic resources are at the service of a modern, elegant, and natural woman.

Roidal’s collection for SS 2022 includes bikinis, swimsuits, camisoles, dresses and sarongs with exquisite and functional cuts, focused on offering fit and comfort without compromising style and trend. Fabrics are the key to ensuring optimum quality and fit; achieved using Xtralife® Lycra fibre, synonymous with high quality and durability.

To brighten the mood and celebrate summer, the brand proposes intense and vibrant colours that enliven the soul and embellish the body. This colour palette combines with each other to create unique and original prints, the brand’s true hallmark. This time, Roidal has explored new prints and sparkles in line with the latest fashion trends, combining them with powerful blocks of colour and appliqués or encrusted Svarovski crystals.

New Tessy SS2022 Collection

There is a popular saying that “no calm sea ever made a sailor an expert”. This belief has inspired Tessy Beachwear, Roidal’s most dynamic and versatile brand, when designing its swimwear collection for Spring / Summer 2022.

Tessy’s proposal is defined as a decisive and formal style that, without moving away from stylistic classicism, explores into the concepts of modernity and functionality. It is a collection reformulated in the key to natural elegance and that translates into soft and well-defined designs and cuts. To these, are added details and finishes such as gathers, draping and other applications. Deep necklines (on the chest or back), bandeaus that generate self-confidence or formal tops that enhance the bust in a natural way allow to make the most of the female anatomy.

Roidal redesigns its website

The new website includes a restyling both visually and in the way of presenting the different collections, as well as allowing faster and more agile access to products by type of garment.

More modern, elegant, and dynamic, the new web design also allows a better visualisation of the images, as well as including videos of each of the brands and collections, which allows a 360º visualisation of the garment, as well as representing a new way to communicate  both at B2B level and with regard to the end consumer.

The new web structure now clearly differentiates the different types of garments (bikinis, swimsuits and accessories), as well as maintaining access to the complete collections of both Roidal and Tessy Beachwear. Also, the usual sections are maintained, such as the company’s corporate information, which highlights the craftsmanship, processes and quality of the garments’ fabrics, as well as a shop finder where end consumers can locate the shop closest to their location, among the more than 40 countries in which the company is present with its two brands.

Winter beach destinations

With Christmas already forgotten, the “January slope” (financially and/or emotionally) behind us and with no long weekends or public holidays on the horizon until Easter, February is an ideal month to take a trip to the beach and make the people die of envy. Healthy envy, of course, but envy nonetheless.

If this is your case, you are a lover of the beach and the sun and you have left a few days free, the problem now is where to ensure you have a favourable climate and temperatures where you can wear your bikini or swimsuits. Our proposal is clear: the Caribbean.

Saint Martin

Saint Martin  is the smallest and most charming island in the Caribbean and belongs to two different countries as it is divided into a French northern part and a Dutch southern part (called Sint Maarten). With its jungle-like nature, busy tourist beaches and more secluded and isolated beaches, its fusion cuisine, lively nightlife and duty-free liquor and jewellery shops are some of the attractions of this paradisiacal destination.

Among its beaches, with warm, clear waters, fine, light sand, palm trees and breathtaking sunsets, Maho Beach stands out, with hundreds of onlookers flocking to watch the planes landing just a few metres above the ground on their way to the runway at Princess Juliana International Airport. Other beaches not to be missed are Orient Bay, Anse Marcel and Simpson Bay, where you’ll find Endless Summer, a cute swimwear shop where you’ll find a wide selection of our Roidal bikinis and swimming costumes. They also have another shop in Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch side. In the capital of the French part, Marigot, you can also find our garments in Kaptiva, a select swimwear and beach accessories shop.

Antillas Neerlandesas

Also, in the “Leeward Islands” are the Netherlands Antilles, made up of three islands: Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, Caribbean destinations that are home to some of the world’s most luxurious hotels and where you can find long white sandy beaches, casinos and duty-free shopping. In Aruba, defined by its tourist board as the “happiest” and most caribbean island, its long stretches of fine sand to enjoy the sun and beach are perfect for switching off mobiles and electronic devices and enjoying the “slow” life. With a tropical drink in hand or letting yourself be gently rocked by the water, the weather will be the least of your worries. Another possibility is going for a walk through the quiet streets of the island’s capital, Oranjestad, full of low, colourful buildings and finish in the Reinassance Mall, a must for Caribbean shopping with renowned shops and international brands, where we highlight Eva Boutique Aruba , one of the most select shops on the island, where you can find our swimwear collections.

To the south, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its beautiful pastel-coloured buildings, the capital of Curaçao, Willemstad, is the starting point for a visit to this quite island, a dream destination for diving enthusiasts and those for whom “dolce far niente” is the ultimate way to live. The fine sand and calm waters are ideal for children and beaches such as Sabana Wespunt, Cas Abao or PortoMari are perfect getaways to enjoy the sun at any time of the year. If you’d also like to buy some of our bikinis, swimwear or accessories, be sure to visit Emilia Boutique.

Antigua y Barbuda

A little further south of St Martin we meet Antigua and Barbuda, in the Lesser Antilles, a destination where, according to Lonely Planet, life is a beach. With a winding coastline that’s home to a multitude of small coves lapped by beautiful blue waters and coral reefs, its colourful villages and beautiful scenery are home to beaches such as Jolly Harbour and Old Road Town, among others. A perfect destination for strolling, swimming, relaxing, eating and of course, shopping for local handicrafts or indulging in fashion in the capital, St. John’s in shops such as Sunseakers, a nice shop where you can find our latest collections of bikinis, swimsuits and beach accessories.

Beach destinations in winter

Just a month before Christmas, if you’re one of the lucky ones thinking of a getaway close where you can forget about the cold of your city, here are a couple of ideas of perfect destinations where you can wear your bikini and swimsuit all year round and get your tan back.

Declared by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site for the Cultural Landscape of Risco Caído and the Sacred Mountains, a reflection of its aboriginal past, Gran Canaria is an especially ideal destination for European travellers who at this time of year want to enjoy sun and sand due to its proximity and its many attractions, which go beyond its endless and spectacular beaches.

With an average temperature of 20 degrees and a multitude of cultural, gastronomic and scenic attractions, its cosmopolitan and lively capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and its many charming villages where you can get to know its culture and customs stand out.

But if what we are talking about is sun and beaches, our recommendation is that you should not miss the south of the island (without detracting at all from the north), more specifically the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (just over half an hour from the airport), which has an extensive coastline of over 32 kilometres, with large, attractive beaches, some with light sand and others with volcanic sand, but all of them very attractive and peaceful.

The most famous are Playa del Inglés, San Agustín and Maspalomas, one of the most beautiful according to all the rankings and which has an area of dunes next to its kilometre-long beach, unique in the world. Strolling early in the morning to watch the sunrise or sunset, bathing in its crystal clear and calm waters, as well as its unique and beautiful dunes make this destination one of the most privileged areas of the island.

With an extensive hotel and gastronomic offer, don’t forget to visit its shops such as Dolce Vita Maspalomas, in the Bulevard Oasis Beach shopping centre, where you can find a wide selection of Roidal bikinis, swimsuits and beach dresses or fashion accessories. Not far from there, in the Palm Beach Hotel, a haven of peace next to the beach, you will also find Boutique Joy, where you have available our latest Roidal collections.

Also declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1983, Lanzarote (6) is for some the most attractive island of the Canary Islands, not only for its warm temperatures and spectacular beaches but also for its culture, art, otherworldly landscapes, gastronomy, routes and leisure activities.

From Timanfaya to Famara, via Isla Graciosa to the wine-growing area of Haría and the characteristic architecture of the local artist par excellence, César Manrique, everything in Lanzarote is beautiful, peaceful and welcoming.

The beaches are endless, beautiful and paradisiacal, with outstanding tourist areas such as Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca, a corner in the south of the island full of golden sandy beaches and clean waters, which in no way envy those of the Caribbean and with views of neighbouring Fuerteventura.

For shopping, our recommendation is to visit Lady Russ, as well as her other shops on the island, La Perla de Sirenuse and Sirenuse by Lady Russ where you’ll find boho-chic fashion and the latest swimwear collections from Roidal and Tessy Beachwear .

Take a look at the colours we’ll be wearing…

While many of you are counting down the hours until you can escape to the beaches and pools and enjoy the summer in your swimsuits and bikinis, at Roidal we keep thinking about you and the next collection with which we want to surprise you and which, as every year, will be spectacular.

So, and anticipating trends, or trying to follow them, in this post we analyse the colours that will come in fashion in the year 2023, and it is now when the professionals of fashion design and clothing have to stock up on fabrics and choose prints to be able to faithfully attend each fashion appointment.

Thus, according to the renowned trend forecasting agency WGSN and Coloro, an institution in colour terms, they predict that “Digital Lavender” will be the colour of the year, supported by the need for widespread optimism that is sweeping the world in the wake of the global pandemic we are experiencing.

Digital lavender represents “the stability, serenity and digital escapism that many of us have incorporated into our recovery rituals to protect and improve our mental health in difficult times,” say Coloro. In this sense, the colour palette for the coming years reflects a more hopeful and optimistic view of the future, although consumers will tend to look for colours that they can relate to positively.

The meaning of purple symbolises magic, mystery, spirituality, subconscious, creativity, dignity, royalty and evokes all these meanings more than any other shade. In addition to this colour, the colour report also includes other shades within its trends and notes that organic shades will take advantage of the growing interest in nature and the countryside, with natural tones, while they claim that saturated and stimulating colours will return, driven by the yearning for positivity and the growing influence of virtual worlds, where new forms of self-expression flourish.

Thus, “Luscious Red” heralds the return of stimulating. Red is a powerful colour that can elevate the heart rate and tap into themes of desire, passion and empowerment, and this particular shade has a lightness and translucency that also feels immersive and hyper-real, making it perfect for both physical and digital products and experiences.

Meanwhile, the colour ‘Sundial’ highlights the importance of organic and naturally sourced colours as consumers reconnect with the countryside and nature. With the growing interest in craftsmanship, community, sustainability and more balanced lifestyles, earthy yellows such as these will resonate more strongly. This healthy ochre yellow can also be sourced naturally from food waste, plants and minerals, connecting with the movement of slow life.

The colour “Tranquil Blue” highlights blues, particularly bright mid-tones, and connects with sustainable values, and has a lightness and clarity reminiscent of the elements of air and water. It represents stillness and tranquillity, which consumers will look for to counteract overwhelming emotions.

Already emerging in the high-end womenswear market, this colour will resonate across all fashion categories as a contemporary update of mid-century blue. As a medium saturated shade, it can be applied in large proportions to make a bold statement but can also be softer when combined with pastel or neutral base tones.

Finally, “Verdigris” is a saturated colour that takes its name from the greenish pigment that forms in oxidised copper. It lies between green and blue and signals a shift towards invigorating digitised shades. This colour is imbued with nostalgia, recalling the sports and outdoor wear of the years.

History of the bikini

As incredible as it may seem to the youngest people, wearing a bikini on beaches and in swimming pools as we do actually is something that, for a time, was not well seen, being considered as a provocation and an act of rebellion unsuitable for “decent” women. Those were other times. Welcome, progress!

Although there is evidence that talks about similar garments to the bikinis of today in Italian mosaics of the IV century B.C. (“The mosaic of the bikinis” in Piazza Armerina (Italy), it will not be until the end of the XIX Century when some women start to use, garments of similar character, but different format, which covered the whole body up to the wrists and ankles, and of great discomfort when the linen or cotton of which they were made got wet, which made difficult their projection as useful garment.

With this precedent, the swimmer Anette Kellerman wore for the first time at the beginning of the 20th century a one-piece swimming costume that eliminated sleeves and legs in its design, ending up being stopped for wearing it in public in Boston; a controversial fact but one that transcended in such a way that a few years later similar pieces began to be seen on some European beaches, frequented at that time by royalty or high class people on their summer holidays.

But the real change came one year after the end of the Second World War, when Louis Rénard, a French mechanical engineer who ran a women’s lingerie business inherited from his mother, presented on 5 July what is considered the first two-piece swimsuit that left the navel exposed, a real hint at the time. Faced with the models’ reluctance to wear the garment for fear of public opinion, Micheline Bernardini, a cabaret dancer at the Casino de Paris was the first woman to wear a bikini in public, at the Molitor swimming pool in the French capital, in a fact that has since appeared in almost any book of modern fashion.

In a context like the one in which the World War had given way to the Cold War and the arms race between the USA and Russia, the bikini owes its name to the Marshall Islands atoll in the Pacific Ocean where the first tests of a hydrogen nuclear bomb were carried out. Thus, inspired by the nakedness generated in the islands by those nuclear tests, but also thinking about the media “bomb” that would be raised by the presentation of this garment, Rénard took his name when presenting it since “it was going to be more explosive than the Bikini bombs”. And so the name of one of today’s most famous swimwear was born.

And so it was. Although it had both supporters and detractors, the bikini did not become popular until the mid 50’s when some actresses like Brigitte Bardot or Ava Gardner, in Europe and Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe or Elisabeth Taylor, among others, in Hollywood, were photographed wearing two-piece bikinis that left the navel exposed.

In the 1960s, the bikini became a popular and accessible garment for all types of women, who over the years have progressively institutionalised it as a basic garment in any female wardrobe today.

TESSY 2021

Starting with a carefully thought-out design that compliments and shapes the feminine figure and where patterns and the quality of the fabrics are the common denominators, Tessy’s SS21 collection is made up of multiple pieces with simple and refined lines and a timeless style.

Flattering bikinis with infinite style possibilities, from triangle tops to halter necks and from high-waisted to side-knotted bottoms, are combined with sublime cut swimsuits where formal minimalism reigns and details such as drapes, gatherings, strapless necklines and metal beads frequently appear, underlining the brand’s strong character.

In the colour palette, black and white come together in a geometric print that stands out for its metallic mesh pattern. It is sometimes splashed with zigzags, graphics and small shiny details, creating lively prints where animal prints coexist with plant and floral ones.

To complete the collection, there are comfortable kaftans, dresses knotted at the back, and matching asymmetric-length shirts with the prints from the swimwear collection as well as delicate Roman-style dresses with which the glamour of the beach style becomes a must at any time of the day.
